Where Was Squash Invented?
It is generally accepted that squash was invented at Harrow School in London, England, in the mid-1800s.
Students at Harrow School discovered that a punctured rackets ball, which squashed on impact with the wall, created a more interesting game than a solid ball. They began playing in the narrow alleys between school buildings. The game gradually spread to other schools and clubs across Britain, then to North America and beyond. The first purpose-built squash courts appeared in the late 1800s as the sport grew in popularity.
